2. Where this privacy policy applies

This Privacy Policy applies to websites, apps, events and other services operated by RealCouple. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as our “services” in this Privacy Policy. To make it extra clear, we’ve added links to this Privacy Policy on all applicable services.

3. Information we collect

We collect basic information, such as basic profile information when you register and your location.

Information you give us

You choose to give us certain information when using our services. This includes:

• When you create an account: login credentials and basic details (name, email, location).
• Profile completion: additional details (personality, lifestyle, interests) and content such as photos. To add certain content you may allow access to your camera or photo album.
• Customer care interactions: information you provide when contacting support. We may monitor or record these interactions for training and quality purposes.
• Chats and published content: messages and content you publish are processed as part of operating the services.

Information we receive from others

We may receive information about you from other users (for example, if they contact us about you).

Information collected when you use our services

We collect data about feature use, device information and activity on our services, such as:

• Activity data (login dates/times, features used, searches, friends and group membership).
• Device data used to access our services.
• With permission, precise geolocation (GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi). If you decline geolocation permission, we will not collect it but some service features may be limited.

• Improve services & develop new ones: conduct research and analysis of user behavior.
• Prevent and detect fraud or illegal activity: perform analysis and retain related data to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure legal compliance: comply with legal requirements, assist law enforcement, and enforce our rights (e.g., Terms).

• Contract: to provide the service (maintain account/profile, make it viewable, recommend users).

With other users

Information you voluntarily share on the service (including public profile) is visible to other users and may be indexed by search engines. Please be careful what you share.

With service providers and partners

We engage third parties for hosting, analytics, customer care, marketing and security. Partners and service providers must agree to confidentiality obligations.

For corporate transactions

If we are involved in a merger, sale, acquisition or reorganization we may transfer your information as part of the transaction.

When required by law

We may disclose information to comply with legal processes (court order, subpoena), to assist law enforcement, to prevent or detect crime, or to protect safety.

To enforce legal rights

We may disclose information to mitigate liability, protect legal rights, enforce agreements, or investigate illegal activity.

We may share information with third parties when you consent or request us to do so. We also may use and share non-personal (de-identified) data and hashed identifiers.

Sharing described in Section 6 may involve transfers to jurisdictions such as the USA, Canada, and others. Where required (e.g., transfers from the EEA), we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

8. Your rights

We provide the following tools and options to help you control your data:

• Access / Update tools: use account settings inside the service to access, rectify or delete information you provided.
• Device permissions: manage permissions (contacts, location, push) on your device; revoking may reduce functionality.
• Deletion: delete your account from privacy settings while logged in.

You may have legal rights (depending on jurisdiction) to request copies of personal information, rectify inaccuracies, or object to processing. For security, we may require proof of identity before fulfilling such requests.

Uninstalling an app stops collection, but the unique device identifier may remain stored so that, if you reinstall the app on the same device, we can re-associate prior activity.

In certain countries (e.g., the EU) you may lodge a complaint with your relevant data protection authority.

9. Residents of California

If you are a California resident, you may request a notice disclosing categories of personal information we shared with third parties for their direct marketing during the preceding calendar year. Contact us; please allow 30 days for a response.

10. How we protect your information

We take steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. We regularly monitor systems and update physical, technical and organizational measures. We may suspend access to our services if we suspect a security breach. If you believe your account is compromised, please notify us immediately.

Note: while we implement security measures, no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security of personal information.

11. How long we retain your information

We retain personal information only as long as needed for legitimate business purposes and as permitted by law. For safety, we keep a retention window:

• 30 days following account deletion; or
• 12 months following account suspension.

We may retain or anonymize information after these windows if required by law, to resolve disputes, or for legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention.

While our systems are designed to delete data per these rules, technical constraints may prevent deletion within an exact timeframe.

12. Children’s privacy

Our services are restricted to users 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you suspect a user is under 16, please report them through our reporting mechanism.

13. Privacy policy changes

This policy may change over time. We will notify you before material changes take effect so you have time to review them.
